A resume made out of cake? How a sweet idea landed this girl a job at Zappos
Creative resumes have been a growing trend in recent years as employers desperately search for creative minds. Even careers which wouldn’t normally be categorized as needing creative individuals (customer support, IT, retail, etc.) are on the lookout for these innovators.
Pua, a Zappos Customer Loyalty Team rep, applied to an internal position by having her resume made out of cake! One of Zappos’s values states that employees “be adventurous, creative, and open-minded”. Pua called up her local bakery to make her resume a little sweeter. What better way to showcase your creativity than with a red velvet resume?
More recently, we’ve stumbled across a few more non-traditional resumes, such as this creative genius who landed a job with his beer resume. Brennan Gleason is an aspiring graphic designer and freelance home brewer who decided to opt out of the traditional paper resume for a 4-pack beer carton. His resume details were on the carton itself, and each beer showcased a specific piece of work.
